Becoming a foster carer

The good news is, if you’re wondering whether you could foster with us, the chances are you can.

And even better, we’ll support you every step of the way through the application process and, if your application is successful, throughout your career as a foster carer.

You can be in full or part-time employment or unemployed and on benefits. You can be disabled, retired, male, female, from any cultural background, or of any sexual orientation.

You will however need to be a caring and patient person and meet the following criteria:

  • be at least 21 years of age (there is no upper age limit)
  • have some experience of caring or working with children
  • have a spare bedroom
  • have time in your life to devote to a child, ie availability during school holidays/school drop off and pick ups
  • be in good general health

Becoming an approved foster carer with us usually takes 6 to 12 months. If you are interested in finding out more, please visit our application process page or contact us for more information.
