Short break care

Short break care is a form of fostering that involves regularly looking after a child with additional needs, such as disabilities, for a small period of time to help give their family a valuable break from caring responsibilities. This could include taking a child out for the day or looking after them at your home overnight or for the weekend.

To be a short break carer you don’t need specific experience of raising children with a disability but you will need to be committed to understanding their needs and to be able to provide a safe and caring environment for them to stay in.

We assess all short break carers in the same way as our other foster carers and also provide them with the same support including specialist training, competitive financial allowances and advice from a dedicated supervising social worker.

If you have a spare room and desire to make a difference, please contact us.
