Unaccompanied asylum seeking children

This is a specialist type of fostering placement where you are supporting a child who is seeking asylum. This can be due to political persecution, famine or war in their home countries. These young refugees are often aged 13 to 17 years and from countries such as Afghanistan, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Iran, Somalia, Sudan and Ukraine.

Very little may be known about these young people when they arrive and they may not speak English well, if at all. They have also had very traumatic journeys to the UK.

You will be given specialist support to help them to settle into life in England. You will need to be willing to learn about other cultures and support these children with Home Office and solicitor appointments.

You need to be committed and resourceful to give these young people the best possible start to living in Bracknell Forest.

If you have a spare room and desire to make a difference, please contact us.
