We have created a climate change strategy to cover our activities from 2025 to 2030 and a delivery plan to show how we will implement the first phase of the strategy.
This has been approved by the council following consultation.

The strategy outlines key actions to achieve net zero emissions as close to 2030 as possible.
It focuses on 5 critical areas:
- achieving net zero for council operations
- supporting the borough to reach net zero
- engaging and empowering residents and the community to take climate action
- adapting to climate impacts - preparing the council and the wider community for the effects of climate change, such as extreme weather and rising temperatures
- supporting a green economy - encouraging innovation, job creation and investment in sustainable industries
Delivery plans
Our delivery plans show our approach to each phase of the strategy:
Action plans
The strategy and delivery plans are implemented through action plans:
How we developed the strategy
We produced this strategy after in-depth research and engagement focusing on Bracknell Forest. This included creating 4 background research papers on the following topics:
- council and borough emissions
- key themes, local issues and challenges and climate risks
- international, national and regional climate change policy
- lessons from our previous climate change strategy and best practice
We ran a programme of engagement including:
- in-depth workshops with senior staff and councillors, with support from academics from Royal Holloway, University of London
- a staff survey and staff workshops
- a survey for residents
Our consultation on the strategy
We consulted residents, local organisations, councillors and council officers on the draft strategy from 11 December 2024 to 26 January 2025. You can read a report on the results of the consultation and the changes we made to the strategy in response, as well as access a full list of all responses to our survey we have permission to publish.
