How we make decisions

The council decides the overall policy framework and sets the budget each year for all council services.

Day to day decisions are made by the Executive. The Executive is made up of the Leader of the council and 9 other Executive Members.

Decisions made by the Executive are made in line with the council’s overall policies and budget.

If a decision is outside of the council’s budget or policy framework then it is referred to the Council.

Any decisions made by the Executive are monitored by the Overview and Scrutiny Commission and panels.

Meetings

Meetings at which decisions are made are open to the public unless a personal or confidential matter is being discussed. You can view council documents online.
