Our plan to support autistic children, young people and adults

Notebook cover with the word 'Plan' and three people discussing a large sheet of paper at a table.

We have a new plan.

The plan is about support for:

  • autistic children
  • autistic young people
  • autistic adults

What we will do

1. We will give information that people can understand.

A man in a grey pullover with a speech bubble above his head, gesturing with his hands.

2. We will tell more people about autism so they can understand it.

A diverse group of people interacting with speech bubbles overhead.

3. We will work together with other people.

For example, people from:

  • the community
  • GP doctor's surgeries and hospitals
  • social care
  • schools and colleges
  • businesses
  • sports and activities

Important things in the plan

Modern college building with sign reading 'New skills college Learning for all'.

1. Make it easier for autistic children and young people to learn.

That might be at school or college or in other ways.

2. Make things fairer for autistic people so that they get the same support for health and care.

3. Make more people understand and be OK with people with autism.

4. Support more autistic people with finding a job that they like.

5. Support autistic people during big life changes.

This could be things like:

  • starting school
  • starting a job or apprenticeship
  • approaching adulthood
  • retirement

Who helped us

Two smiling people shaking hands, one wearing a dark blue T-shirt and jeans, the other in a pink polo shirt and shorts.

We made this plan with the help of:
