The community learning service has a duty to promote the fundamental British values of:
- democracy
- the rule of law
- individual liberty
- mutual respect
- tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs
We are committed to enabling our learners to:
Develop their self-knowledge, self-esteem and self-confidence.
Distinguish right from wrong and to respect the civil and criminal law of England, understanding that this is essential for their wellbeing and safety.
Accept responsibility for their behaviour, show initiative, and to understand how they can contribute positively to the lives of those living and working in their locality and to society more widely.
Promote tolerance, harmony and respect between different cultural traditions through an appreciation of and respect for their own and other cultures and beliefs - and encourage participation in decision-making through the democratic process, both at a national, local and service level.
