Accessible Information Standard

The Accessible Information Standard is a mandatory standard that all NHS and publicly funded adult social care services must follow. It is for people who have information or communication support needs due to a disability, impairment or sensory loss. This includes patients, people who use services, their carers, and parents.

The standard aims to make sure people receive information in formats they can understand and receive the communication support they need. It specifically aims to improve the quality and safety of care received by people with information and communication needs, and their ability to be involved in their own decisions about their health, care and wellbeing.
