Meet our staff

We believe that our staff are our greatest asset.

Here you can read stories from people who have built social work careers in Bracknell Forest and benefited from our unique environment and opportunities.

Lou, Team Manager, Children’s Specialist Support Services

"I joined Bracknell Forest in January 2014 from the probation service and my current role is Team Manager in the Children’s Specialist Support Services Team. I manage a team of social workers, family workers, occupational therapists and behaviour support staff to provide services for children with disabilities and their families.

There were lots of things that attracted me to work in Bracknell Forest particularly
the competitive salary, the opportunity to buy and sell leave, childcare vouchers and the ‘free’ work style.

I really enjoy working for Bracknell Forest and feel like I am part of a supportive and productive team whose focus is on improving outcomes for children and young people. I have accessed lots of high quality training and am impressed by the opportunities available for staff development."

Jacqui, Under 11’s Social Worker

"I joined Bracknell Forest Children’s Social Care as a social worker in the Under 11’s team just over 3 months ago.

I spent my final year placement in another part of Bracknell Forest (adult services) and enjoyed my time there, but wanted to work with children and young people so when I saw the role advertised during my placement, it seemed an ideal opportunity.

Feeling that you are making a positive difference to young people’s lives and improving outcomes for the longer term is the most motivating part of the job and understanding the many processes, practices and statutory responsibilities that exist for the role is the most challenging."

Julia, Referral and Assessment Social Worker

"I have worked for Bracknell Forest for 1 year and 2 months. I had been recommended Bracknell Forest Council for a social work job as I had been told it was a supportive council, and one that looks after ASYE/NQSWs more than some other local authorities. I also knew the area due to my placement when I was a student and so it seemed suitable for my first social work role.

The most motivating aspect of my work is working with children and young people - I love being that person who enables children to open up about their worries and what is making them sad, and to feel that they trust me enough to be able to confide in me."
