Fort upgrade and temporary closure

We are updating our much loved play fort at The Look Out Discovery Centre. The current fort is at the end of its life and can no longer be sustainably repaired. The new fort will have more towers and play elements, including a climbing wall, slide and tunnel. It will still be suitable for children aged 7 to 11 years.

The work is due to start on Monday 9 March. We expect it to take around 3 weeks to complete. Our contractors will be working weekdays and some weekends. We have timed the work to avoid busy periods, such as the summer holidays.

The junior play area will be closed while we carry out this work. The inclusive and infant play areas remain open.

Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

We have a fantastic play area outside The Look Out, split into 3 parts.

There are also lots of tables and benches surrounding the play area, which make wonderful picnic spots right on the edge of Swinley Forest.

Inclusive play area

Our fully inclusive play area includes a wheelchair accessible roundabout, slide, and a cradle swing.

Infant play area

Our infant play area is fantastic and imaginative fun for younger children aged 3 to 6 years, and includes a fabulous ship to set sail in.

Junior play area

Our junior play area is more challenging fun for older children aged 7 to 11 years, and includes a magnificent fort to defend.
