Using a more hands-on, engaging and overall more exciting way to approach learning Maths to inspire and motivate learners both young and old!
Lego Maths is a versatile tool because it works well in a small group setting, one-one and as partnered learning.
You have the opportunity to explore multiple maths concepts and skills with hands–on activities that help visualise the mathematical problem.
It is a great way to have fun learning together, Maths is fun with Lego!
You will explore basic Maths and develop confidence using Lego to help teach the Maths skills: counting, measuring and exploring many mathematical problems including symmetry and patterns and having fun at the same time.
You will be exploring possible solutions with Lego, recording thinking, explaining the thought process, revisiting and reflecting to adapt as required for the individual learner. Reinforcing maths skills that some may struggle with using visual steps make learning real, engaging and memorable.
The sessions will be building your confidence and skills with these hands on Maths activities using Lego, realising the importance of learning through play together.
Learners will achieve skills to give them confidence to continue learning and teaching Maths at home with the family.
Learners will:
- Be able by using hands-on methods develop knowledge of Maths concepts
- Be able to use Lego bricks to model maths building brick models to make learning fun
- Be able to use step-by step stages to support teaching with confidence the basic Maths skills

No previous Maths skills are needed, just come along and enjoy together!
Material required for the course
All materials will be provided.
Teaching method
- Through tutor demonstration and instruction using engaging and visual methods of teaching
- By exploring Lego bricks and building techniques.
- Using easy to follow activities to make learning fun.
- By seeing the Maths problem in Lego to help them understand previously taught
- concepts and correct misunderstandings in their learning
- Using colourful and dynamic worksheets to interest the learners.
How is your progress checked
Learners will be able to demonstrate the skills they have learnt using Lego to count, use addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and geometry.
Learners will be able to use the Lego bricks and materials for solving mathematical problems
Learners will have learnt by engaging in conceptual maths understanding.
Extra study required at home
Learners will achieve skills to give them confidence to continue learning at home together.
