What would you like to do next in your career, studies or both? Perhaps you would like to learn about a specific area/subject or work in a particular field, or maybe do something completely different? Before you decide your next step, you need to know what you are good at, what your interests are and what your end goal is.

How to enrol

To enrol on this course you need to attend our job club

 

This course will help you find out what opportunities are available to you and how to get to the next stage. 

You will:

  • carry out a self-audit, identifying your strengths
  • develop and plan how to meet your progression goals
  • learn how to set personal goals and plan ways to achieve them
  • produce a personal progression plan to help you reach the next step in your life journey

Entry requirements

This is part of an accredited course. You will receive a Workskills qualification following successful completion of various units. Please speak to your tutor or visit job club for more information)

Material required for the course

All learning resources will be supplied by the Learning Centre

Teaching method

You will learn by:

  • Attending in-class sessions
  • Discussion and group work
  • Individual research

How is your progress checked

Your progress is checked by:

Tutor input in the classroom on an individual basis

Extra study required at home

No homework is required unless work is not completed in the classroom.

Assessment

You will be assessed by the completion of a workbook as part of a portfolio of evidence. There is no exam for this qualification. 

Next steps

To gain the full Workskills qualification you will also need to attend:

  • New start: Job search skills
  • New start: Confident communication

 

You will be able to use this  unit towards part of other accredited learning qualifications. 

  • Pearson BTEC Introductory award in customer services level 1
  • Pearson BTEC Introductory certificate in customer services level 1
  • Pearson BTEC Introductory award in business level 1
  • Pearson BTEC Introductory award in hospitality and tourism level 1
