Functional skills: maths entry 3

Level up your skills and gain a maths qualification.

The course will include:

  • using numbers and the number system – whole numbers, fractions, decimals and percentages
  • using common measures, shape and space
  • handling information and data

Entry requirements

BKSB diagnostic assessment.

Material required for the course

Bring a notebook and pen. All other resources will be provided (for example a calculator and protractor).

Teaching method

This course is classroom based. You will work individually, in pairs and in small groups. 

PowerPoint, videos, mathematical resources and handouts will be used to support different learning styles.

How is your progress checked

Progress is checked through:

  • ongoing tutor assessments
  • termly assessments
  • marking classwork and homework
  • formal exam at the end of the year or whenever learners are ready

Extra study required at home

Homework will be set each week.

Next steps

On successful completion of the course and a final exam, learners will get a Functional skills maths entry 3 accredited certificate.

Learners can progress on to functional skills: maths level 1.
