Snuggle and soothe: March 2026

Parents will gain a better understanding of their baby's needs and how to understand their verbal and non-verbal cues. 

By learning the benefits of infant massage, parents will have increased opportunities for bonding and attachments to be formed.

By the end of the course you will:

  • become familiar with baby massage strokes also incorporating nursery rhymes that you can use with your baby at home
  • know the 4 major benefits of baby massage
  • gain an increased confidence in handling your baby
  • increase your understanding of your baby’s non verbal cues and how to respond to them
  • take part in a relaxing activity, promoting one to one time for you and your baby
  • have an increase in social activities, meet other parents and carers, make friends and develop a support network

Entry requirements

This course is suitable for parents and carers with:

  • babies under 6 months old 
  • babies older than 6 months that aren't yet crawling

Material required for the course

Wear comfortable clothing that is easy to move in.

You should bring:

  • a towel and cushion for your baby to lie 
  • a small, quiet sensory toy
  • baby oil or cream

Teaching method

Teaching methods will include:

  • verbal instruction
  • handouts
  • demonstrations
  • hands-on practice on your baby 

How is your progress checked

Learning will take place in a group environment. The course tutor will spend time one to one within the group if needed. 

Questions can be asked throughout the course and the tutor will help learners further if needed.

Extra study required at home

You can practise at home with your baby.

Assessment

There is no formal assessment.

Hand outs will be given to support learning.
