Sunday 16 December – Christmas treasure hunt at Lily Hill Park

Solve a series of festive clues to win a chocolate prize! Morning or afternoon events available.

When: Sunday 16 December, 10am to 11:30am or 1pm to 2:30pm.

Where to meet: Giant Picnic Table, Lily Hill Park, off Lily Hill Road, Bracknell, RG12 2RX.

Cost:  £4.14 per child

Book a place for 10am to 11:30am at Lily Hill Park.

Book a place for 1pm to 2:30pm at Lily Hill Park.

Early booking is recommended to avoid disappointment.

Tuesday 18 December - volunteer led walk – The mince pie trail

Join us for a longer walk with refreshments and a festive mince pie afterwards.

This is a rambler walk - it is up to 5 1/2 miles and will last up to 2 hours 15 minutes.

When: Tuesday 18 December at 10:30am.

January events

Sunday 6 January - heathland management at Wildmoor Heath

Kick start your new year by helping the rangers conserve this precious site. We will be clearing birch and pine trees from the heath and enjoying a bonfire in a wonderful setting.

Tools, training and refreshments are provided. Please bring a pack lunch and work gloves.

When: Sunday 6 January, 10am to 1:30pm.

Saturday 12 January - traditional orchard wassail at Lily Hill Park

Wassailing is an old English custom to celebrate and protect fruit trees and ensure a good harvest. Come and enjoy a simple revival of this seasonal tradition. Held by firelight and accompanied by lively music and dancing by the OBJ Morris Dancers.

Suitable for all. Bring cider (please drink responsibly) or apple juice.

When: Saturday 12 January, 5:30pm to 7pm.

Tuesday 15 January - volunteer led walk - Binfield and Billingbear

Join us for a volunteer led walk. This is a rambler walk - it is up to 5 1/2 miles and will last up to 2 hours 15 minutes.

When: Tuesday 15 January at 10:30am.

Where to meet: Jack O’Newbury pub, Terrace Road North, Binfield, Bracknell, RG42 5HX.

No booking required.

Monday 21 January - Natural History Society talk

The Bracknell Forest Natural History Society invites you to a talk on 'how to be an urban birder' by David Lindo.

When: Monday 21 January, 7:30pm to 9:30pm.

Where to meet: Recital Room at South Hill Park, Ringmead, Bracknell, RG12 7PA.

Cost: Membership is £12 per year with an entrance fee of £1 for evening meetings – or come along as a visitor and pay £3 for the evening.

Wednesday 23 January - community litter pick at South Hill Park

Help your community by joining in with a litter pick.

When: Wednesday 23 January, 2pm to 3pm.

Where to meet: Courtyard in front of South Hill Park reception, Ringmead, Bracknell, RG12 7PA.

February events

Thursday 7 February - orchard pruning at Lily Hill Park

Help prune Lily Hill Park’s community orchard and learn how to care for your fruit trees.

When: Thursday 7 February, 10am to midday.

Where to meet: North car park, off Lily Hill Road, Bracknell, RG12 2RX.

Cost: free

Monday 18 February - Natural History Society - a talk on Polecats and Pine Martens

The Bracknell Forest Natural History Society invites you to a talk ‘On the Trail of Polecats and Pine Martens’ by Lizzie Croose.

When: Monday 18 February, 7:30pm to 9:30pm.

Where to meet: Recital Room at South Hill Park, Ringmead, Bracknell, RG12 7PA.

Young Explorers are invited to join us in a nature related scavenger hunt throughout the grounds of South Hill Park.

Wednesday 20 February - half term wildlife workshop at Horseshoe Lake

Learn a range of outdoor skills including how to build, light and load a bonfire. Learn the safe way to cut down small trees and find out why this helps wildlife. Discover the best way to roast marshmallows on an open fire.

Tools and refreshments are provided. Please bring gloves, outdoor clothing and wellies! Best suited for 7 years and over.

When: Wednesday 20 February, 10am to midday

Where to meet: Horseshoe Lake car park, Mill Lane, Sandhurst, GU47 8JW.

Individual walks and talks from rangers

Organised groups can request a ranger to lead a walk or talk about a site or activity managed by our Parks and Countryside Service.

Please note, however, that the availability of rangers is very limited and usually targeted towards local community groups. 

The cost is £27 per hour. For more information please contact us.
