Duty planning officer service
The council provides a duty planning officer service. The purpose of this service is to give general planning advice about 'permitted development' and other development proposals such as extending your home or adding an outbuilding in your garden.
Please note that for enquiries about building a new house you should submit a developer pre-application enquiry.
At your appointment with the duty planning officer you will not receive a definitive answer about whether a proposal is permitted development or whether it will be acceptable. This often requires further research and we will advise you to submit a pre-application enquiry for site-specific proposals.
Make an appointment
The duty planning officer is available for a meeting on an appointment basis. There is a fee for this. The 20-minute meeting will be held at the council’s offices at Time Square in Bracknell and will be followed up by an email from the duty planning officer within 24 hours of the meeting (excluding weekends and public holidays) summarising the advice given.
All appointments need to be booked online at least 24 hours in advance.
For householder enquiries the cost of the appointment is £40 (inclusive of VAT). The fee for small businesses is £50 (inclusive of VAT).
Alternatively, you can email your general planning query to the duty planning officer to DCMinor@bracknell-forest.gov.uk. You should receive a reply to your email within 24 hours (excluding weekends and public holidays).
The duty planning officer will no longer take telephone calls or see enquirers at the council offices without a pre-booked appointment.
