Join our dynamic team as a co-opted governor at Owlsmoor Primary School!
Are you passionate about making a difference in your community? Do you have expertise in marketing, IT or finance? If so, we want to hear from you. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our governing body as co-opted governors.
About us
Our governing body is a vibrant mix of 13 dedicated members, including:
- the headteacher
- 1 local authority governor
- 2 elected parent governors
- 1 elected staff governor
- 8 co-opted governors
We also have the support of a professional clerk.
Each governor has unique skills and experiences. These range from financial expertise to strategic planning, all of which we highly value.
Exciting times ahead
By the end of the 2024 to 2025 academic year, Owlsmoor Primary School will be joining a local academy trust. This transition promises exciting new opportunities and advantages for our school community. Our most recent Ofsted inspection, in March 2023, rated the school as ‘Good’. Join us on the next part of our transformative journey and strive for even greater success!
Your role
As a governor, you'll work closely with the headteacher to lead the school strategically. You will help to drive continuous improvement in our school's performance.
Our core responsibilities include:
- defining the vision, ethos, and strategic direction of the school
- making sure the headteacher fulfils their responsibilities for the educational performance of the school
- overseeing the sound, proper and effective use of the school’s financial resources
Commitment and rewards
We know our governors are busy. So, we ask them to:
- attend at least 2 meetings each term
- join one training session each academic year
- visit the school during the day at least once a term
Our governors find that seeing the impact of their decisions on the school community is the most rewarding part of the role.
Personal and professional growth
Being a governor at Owlsmoor Primary School offers deep personal satisfaction. It also offers the chance to develop practical skills that are valuable in any workplace. Many governors feel that one of the best parts of the role is using their skills to give back to the local community.
How to apply
If you're ready to make a difference and be part of our exciting future, there are 2 ways to apply:
- request an application pack from Fiona Stanton, Clerk to the Governors by emailing fstanton@owlsmoorprimary.com
