Terms and conditions for booking Registration Services appointments

This page sets out the terms and conditions relating to any booking of an appointment with Bracknell Forest Council for the following Registration Services:

  • marriage, civil partnership, civil partnership conversion ceremonies
  • naming ceremony
  • renewal of vows
  • notice of marriage or civil partnership
  • individual British citizenship ceremonies

Booking an appointment

By making a booking for any Registration Service listed above, you acknowledge and accept these terms and conditions.

The fee for your ceremony or appointment is payable in full at the time of booking for all Registration Services listed above.

The booking fee is the amount payable as specified in the council’s current fees and charges for the appointment you require from the Registration Services.

Any certificate fees (for example, marriage certificates) are also payable in full at the time of booking your ceremony.

Certificate fees are statutory and could be subject to change, should the General Register Office increase the certificate fee prior to your ceremony date. You will be required to pay any difference.

When booking an appointment for any of the above a date and time must be agreed.

By making an appointment for any Registration Service you confirm that you have all the documents that you have been asked to produce for that appointment and that you accept that failure to do so may result in the appointment being cancelled or rescheduled.

If you attend your appointment, the booking fee will be used to pay for the Registration Service.

Failure to attend an appointment

If you do not attend your appointment and have not cancelled the appointment as per the terms and conditions, Bracknell Forest Council will retain the full fee paid at booking.

Amendments

If you wish to amend the date or time of your appointment on the same day that you have made the original booking, no amendment fee will be charged.

If you wish to amend the date or time of your appointment at any time from the next working day after your original booking date, an amendment fee is payable on each occasion this occurs.

Payment of the amendment fee must be made at the time the amendment is made.

Amendment fee

Where both the date and time of the appointment is being amended at the same time, only one amendment fee is due.

You must agree the new appointment date and time when you request the change.

If you do not or cannot agree the new appointment date and time of the request for the change, this will be treated as a cancellation not an amendment.

Request an amendment

A request for an amendment of an appointment can be made in the following ways:

  • by attending Bracknell Register Office, Time Square, Market Street, Bracknell, RG12 1JD
  • by phoning 01344 352000

Late arrivals

If you arrive to your appointment late (more than 10 minutes), it is the decision of the Superintendent or Deputy Superintendent Registrar as to whether you will be able to be seen in the remaining appointment time.

If this is not possible, you may be able to re-schedule your appointment for later the same day, subject to availability. This will be treated as an amendment and an amendment fee is payable.

If this is not possible a new appointment date will be required. In this case, this will be treated as a cancellation and the full fee paid will be retained. If you wish to book another appointment for a different date (subject to availability), you will be required to pay the relevant full appointment fee again before the new appointment date and time will be agreed.

You accept that the decision as to whether your appointment can or cannot go ahead is the responsibility of the Superintendent Registrar or Deputy Superintendent Registrar and that decision is final.

Cancellations

If you wish to cancel your appointment on the same day that you have made the original booking, no cancellation fee will be charged and a full refund of the fee paid will be made.

If you cancel your appointment for any reason less than 7 working days from (including the appointment date), Bracknell Forest Council will retain the full fee paid at booking.

If you cancel your appointment for any reason more that 7 working days from (including the appointment date) a refund of the fee paid at booking will be made minus a cancellation administration fee.

Ceremony cancellation

For cancellation of marriage, civil partnership, civil partnership conversion, naming or renewal of vows ceremonies.

If you wish to cancel your appointment on the same day that you have made the original booking, no cancellation fee will be charged and a full refund of the fee paid will be made.

If you cancel your appointment for any reason up to 3 months prior to the date of your ceremony (including the ceremony date), Bracknell Forest Council will refund the amount paid at booking minus an administration fee.

If you cancel your appointment for any reason less than 3 months from (including the appointment date), Bracknell Forest Council will retain the full fee paid at booking.

An appointment cancelled by the customer can only be made in the following ways:

  • by email to registrars@bracknell-forest.gov.uk
  • in writing, by letter to the Superintendent Registrar, Bracknell Forest Register Office, Time Square, Market Street, Bracknell, RG12 1JD
  • by personal attendance at Bracknell Forest Register Office, Time Square, Market Street, Bracknell, RG12 1JD

Amendment and cancellation fee

The cancellation or amendment fee is £36.
