Licensing policies

The council is required to prepare and publish a statement of licensing policy every 5 years in line with section 5 of the Licensing Act 2003.

The statement outlines the general approach of the Licensing Authority when making licensing decisions under the Licensing Act 2003. It can be reviewed and revised by the authority at any time.

View the Statement of licensing policies on the Public Protection Partnership (PPP) website.

Enforcement policy

The enforcement policy for the licensing service provided by the Public Protection Partnership is:

  • the Regulators Code (this forms the basis for the general approach to delivery of the service)
  • the Code for Crown Prosecutors is the policy basis for decisions on institution or otherwise of legal proceedings
