Join us for a joyful celebration of freedom, marking the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War.
The celebrations will begin at 11am with a performance of ‘The Freedom Tree of Bracknell’ by children's author Catherine Emmett. This fairy tale was created for Bracknell Forest Libraries’ Our Freedom: Then Now project.
The library team will perform the fairy tale though music and storytelling. Audience participation is warmly encouraged!
Afterward, there will be cake and refreshments.
At 12pm, we invite you to join a printmaking craft session led by artist Areej Abdi.
Participants can design their own bookmark using printmaking techniques. You can take this home or add it to the community art display in the library.
This is also your chance to see the ‘freedom reading trees’ before they are delivered to their home library.
Local residents have been decorating leaves to hang on the trees with drawings and reflections on what freedom means to them.
All ages welcome. This event is free and there is no need to book.
