School library visits

Would you like to organise a class visit? Sessions last 30 to 45 minutes and can take place at your local library, your education setting or virtually.

A visit to us will include:

  • information about how to join the library
  • a guide on how to use the library service and the services we offer, including our online services and BorrowBox
  • time for children to browse the library’s book selection with help to find the right book for them
  • storytelling
  • book discussions
  • a chance for children to borrow books on their library cards

All sessions are free of charge.

Benefits of library sessions

Library sessions are a great learning experience for the children. They get to be somewhere different to learn and find out all about the library. This helps build a long-term love of books and libraries.

Planning your visit

You can bring a group of up to 30 children to the library per session. We ask that there is 1 adult for every 15 pupils.
