Over £770 million has been invested in the regeneration of Bracknell Forest. This includes the town centre and improvements across the wider area - making it one of the largest urban regeneration schemes built in the UK.
Bracknell Forest Council, the Bracknell Regeneration Partnerships and other partners have invested or are investing in the following areas:
- £112 million on education projects
- £250 million on healthcare
- £30 million on leisure (in addition to The Lexicon Bracknell)
- £30 million on roads, transport, public realm and public art
- £108 million on new homes, including affordable homes
Regeneration projects
Education
The following education projects have been completed or begun:
- the opening of the new Bracknell and Wokingham College building to provide excellent further education facilities
- a new primary school and £24 million in contributions to local infrastructure at the 1,000 dwelling development at Transport Research Laboratory (Buckler’s Park) in Crowthorne
- investment to create the Binfield Learning Village
Healthcare
The Royal Berkshire Bracknell Clinic (Brants Bridge) was opened to provide much needed cancer and renal treatment with day care facilities.
Leisure
The following leisure projects have been completed or begun:
- £13.3 million for the refurbishment of the leisure facilities at Coral Reef Waterworld
- £2.8 million for the refurbishment works at Bracknell Leisure Centre
Roads, transport and public realm
The following roads, transport and public realm projects have been completed or begun:
- the council’s £1.3 million redevelopment of Bracknell Bus Station to provide a more user friendly and attractive gateway to the town centre
- improvements to the forecourt of Bracknell railway station as part of a £600,000 project, which also improved taxi, cycle, bus and car parking facilities, lighting, landscaping and created a new pedestrian crossing and new seating
- refurbishments of the grounds of South Hill Park - including restoring the terrace garden and conserving and enhancing woodland areas
- £30 million has also been invested in road improvements including:
- Coppid Beech junction
- Twin Bridges junction
- Coral reef junction
- Warfield link road
- A329 Corridor and Martins Heron junction
- Downshire Way dualling (2019 to 20)
- A3095 corridor improvements (2019 to 2021)
- over £10 million investment into infrastructure at Amen Corner North and Warfield - to support the new housing, including new roads and primary school provision
