Monday 21 October - Natural History Society - Bees and other pollinators

The Bracknell Forest Natural History Society invites you to a talk on bees and other pollinators with Reading University researcher Rory O’Connor.

When: Monday 21 October, 7:30pm to 9:30pm.

Where to meet: Recital Room at South Hill Park, Ringmead, Bracknell, RG12 7PA.

Cost: Membership is £12 per year with an entrance fee of £1 for evening meetings – or come along as a visitor and pay £3 for the evening

Solve a series of clues to win a nature related prize! Morning or afternoon events available.

When: Monday 28 October, 10am to 11:30am or 1pm to 2:30pm.

Where to meet: Gazebo on rear field at South Hill Park, Ringmead, Bracknell, RG12 7PA.

Cost: £3.99 per child

Wednesday 6 November and Thursday 7 November - Small mammal surveying

Frost Folly

Learn about small mammals and how to record them. Event is over 2 days to include an evening to set up and then the next morning to record findings.

When: Wednesday 6 November, 6pm to 8pm and Thursday 7 November, 7:30am to 9:30am.

Where to meet: Frost Folly car park, Weller’s Lane, Warfield, Bracknell RG42 6EN.

Cost: £4 per participant.

Wednesday 13 November and Thursday 14 November - Small mammal surveying

Garth Meadows

Learn about small mammals and how to record them. Event is over 2 days to include an evening to set up and then the next morning to record findings.

When: Wednesday 13 November, 6pm to 8pm and Thursday 14 November, 7:30am to 9:30am.

Where to meet: Parking at Larks Hill, Warfield, Bracknell RG42 4SR. Walk to Garth Meadows where we will meet at the noticeboard area. Please don’t park on roadside.

Cost: £4 per participant.

Friday 22 November - Community Litter Pick at South Hill Park

Join us for a community litter pick.

When: Friday 22 November, 10am to 11am.

Where to meet: Courtyard in front of South Hill Park reception, Ringmead, Bracknell, RG12 7PA.

December

Thursday 5 December - Community Litter Pick at Lily Hill Park

Join us for a community litter pick.

When: Thursday 5 December, 2pm to 3pm.

Where to meet: North car park, off Lily Hill Road, Bracknell, RG12 2RX.

Saturday 14 December - Hazel coppicing and fire at West Garden Copse

Try out a traditional woodland craft that benefits wildlife. Toast marshmallows over an open fire and possibly take home your own beanpoles and firewood. Tools and light refreshments provided. 

When: Saturday 14 December, 1pm to 3pm.

Where to meet: Jennett’s Park car park, off Swift fields, Bracknell, RG12 8DY.

Cost: free.

Sunday 15 December - Heathland magic at Wildmoor Heath

Try your hand at harvesting birch trees to help conserve this precious site and possibly take home your own Christmas tree. Tools provided. Please bring work gloves.

When: Sunday 15 December, 10:30am to 1:30pm.

Where to meet: Wildmoor Heath car park, Crowthorne Road, RG45 7PP.

Cost: free.

Tuesday 17 December - volunteer led walk - The Mince Pie Trail

Join us for a volunteer led walk at Frost Folly. This is a rambler walk and will last up to 5 and a half miles or 2 hour 15 minutes with refreshments and a festive mince pie afterwards.

When: Tuesday 17 December at 10:30am.

Friday 20 December - Festive Forage at South Hill Park

Join us for a festive walk around the beautiful grounds of South Hill Park and take advantage of this special opportunity to collect plant material for your festive decorations!

When: Friday 20 December, 10:30am to 11:30am.

Where to meet: Courtyard in front of South Hill Park reception, Ringmead, Bracknell, RG12 7PA.

Individual walks and talks from rangers

Organised groups can request a ranger to lead a walk or talk about a site or activity managed by our Parks and Countryside Service.

Please note, however, that the availability of rangers is very limited and usually targeted towards local community groups. 

The cost is £27 per hour. For more information please contact us.
