Use this form to apply for a licence to erect a fence, hoarding or similar structure. A licence is required under sections 169, 172 and 173 of The Highways Act 1980.
For your application to be valid, you must submit payment, a location plan, section or elevation plan and details of insurance. You must not erect the structure without a valid licence in place. You may also be contacted to provide a copy of your method statement.
The fee is £316.
You must:
- pay the council their charges for the reinstatement of any paving and so on removed, damaged or disturbed by the erection of the fence, hoarding or similar structure
- accept all risks and hold yourself responsible for maintaining the fence, hoarding or similar structure safe, and in a satisfactory condition
- light it at night to the satisfaction of the council
- free and relieve the council and its officers from all claims in respect of the grant of a licence - for this purpose an insurance policy will be maintained by the contractor to cover any liability up to £5,000,000 for any such claim and to produce the policy to the council upon demand together with the receipt for the last premium
Upon expiration of the 6 week period a new licence must be applied for.
