DIY Crafts by season: June 2025

Create crafts inspired by the vibrant beauty of summer. There is certainly no shortage of inspiration: delightful felt and fabric sunflowers, summer garlands, eye-catching door wreaths, felt beach-themed brooches, colourful kite decorations, and vibrant picnic blankets, to name but a few of the ideas you can explore in these sessions. Created using the wonderfully bright colour palette of the season, they will brighten up your home in style.

Relax and combine your creative skills inspired by nature to produce lasting seasonal stunners.

Learners will:

  • learn the skills of a variety of crafts to make unique dimensional projects, using a mix of resources including recycling when possible
  • be able to produce a piece of seasonal craft of their own design to take home
  • be able to use a variety of crafting techniques with assorted fabrics to make beautiful creations linked to the seasons 
  • use various methods of working with fabric and combinations of materials
  • spend the sessions developing individual skills suitable for the focused making task selected
  • use various basic making skills of hand and machine stitching

Entry requirements

This course is suitable for beginners and seasoned crafters alike.

No previous crafting skills needed. Just the enthusiasm for wanting to learn something new!

Material required for the course

All course material is provided. All you need is yourself and plenty of enthusiasm and creativity.

Teaching method

Learning will be by:

  • tutor demonstration and instruction
  • exploring equipment, tools and techniques
  • producing crafts with different stitched and decorative techniques
  • photographs of crafts, decorations and hands on examples to use for inspiration

How is your progress checked

Learners will be able to:

  • demonstrate the skills they have learnt
  • use equipment and materials for varied crafting techniques
  • produce a variety of stitched seasonal crafts

Next steps

Skills can be extended to learn more advanced crafting techniques.

Learners can join other wellbeing courses.
