Whether you are a seasoned baker or a frosting enthusiast, come along and have some fun with fabulous ideas to elevate your cake creations.
Get to know fondant, learning the basics of modelling with this fabulous ingredient. You will learn how to decorate beautifully cupcakes or celebration cakes using amazing sugar paste. Learning new techniques each week, which you can also use on future projects. Sharon will work with you individually to support you making your ideas a reality.
Buttercream piping skills will also be included to show you exciting finishing techniques to help make your cakes stand out from the crowd.
Using step-by-step stages and hands on working, you will be able to make mini freehand sculptures using minimal tools while taking your first steps in fondant modelling.
Learners will achieve skills to give them confidence to continue to cake make and decorate at home.
Learners will:
- pipe using a piping bag
- pipe using the classic swirl and rose swirl technique
- work with fondant and sugar paste
- use cutters to make various shapes
- spend the sessions trying a variety of icing techniques and using sugar paste and fondant to make beautiful creations
- use various basic tools to add character, making your modelling unique
Entry requirements
There are no entry requirements for this course.
No previous decorating or piping skills are needed. Just come along and enjoy!

Teaching method
Teaching and learning will be through:
- tutor demonstration and instruction
- exploring equipment, tools and techniques
- producing cakes with different decorative techniques
- photographs of cakes and decorations to use for information
