
Effective communication is crucial in the workplace, especially when it comes to interviews, meetings, and collaboration. Gain practical tips to help you communicate more confidently.
This session will cover:
- what we mean by verbal and non-verbal communication
- how to communicate more effectively and confidently, particularly in interviews
Learners will have the opportunity to participate in a practice interview and receive useful feedback from each other.

Entry requirements
This course is aimed at anyone who would like to improve their communication skills and feel more confident, particularly in the area of job interviews.
It supports 'New Start part 1 – job search skills' by exploring the areas of communication and self-confidence which are a key part of job seeking.
Learners can attend the 2 parts in any order or just attend one part if the other is not relevant to their needs.
Material required for the course
Bring a pen and paper for making notes.
Teaching method
Learners will get a short worksheet to complete during the session and take home with them afterwards. They will also get a copy of the slides
How is your progress checked
Progress is checked through a mix of :
- formal instruction
- pair work
- group discussion
- individual written work
- observation from the tutor
Assessment
Observation of participation in course activities and completion of the worksheet.
There will be a self-evaluation at the end of the session.
