Make a difference to children’s lives in your area
Would you like to help make a positive contribution to children's education?
Could you use your workplace skills in partnership with our governing body to promote the continuous improvement in the performance of the school?
Then the governing body of Harmans Water Primary School would love to hear from you.
About us
Our governing body is made up of 13 governors:
- the headteacher
- 1 local authority governor
- 2 elected parent governors
- 1 elected staff governor
- 8 co-opted governors
We also employ a professional clerk.
All of our governors have their own careers and responsibilities, but they dedicate time to the school when they are able.
Our governors bring a wealth of different experience to the governing body, including financial expertise, strategic planning and practical skills. All of these are highly valued.
The governing body’s overriding responsibility is to work in partnership with the headteacher, to promote continuous improvement in the performance of the school.
The role
We currently have 3 exciting vacancies for co-opted governors, and we’re looking for people who want to make a real difference in their community.
Our governing body plays a vital role in shaping the future of Harmans Water Primary School, and it’s important that we reflect the diversity and strengths of our local area.
We are keen to hear from motivated, committed individuals who can bring fresh ideas and expertise.
We are ideally looking to hear from individuals with experience in social media and marketing or grants/funding streams. Most importantly, we are looking for:
- a willingness to learn and grow
- confidence to challenge and contribute to discussions
- the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
As a governor, you will attend 8 to 10 meetings per year, currently held on Monday evenings at 6:30pm in the school.
Full training and support is provided, delivered by Bracknell Forest Council and the National Association of Governors, including online learning opportunities. Becoming a governor is one of the best ways to develop your skills, broaden your experience, and make a lasting impact on children’s education.
