The school SEND information report is co-produced with parent carers.
All educational settings must involve and work with parent carers and the student in decision making. This involvement includes their participation in reviews and is documented on an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) or equivalent record.
Ways that settings can involve parent carers and students
Parent carers are signposted to the special educational needs and disabilities local offer. In Bracknell Forest, this is the additional needs info hub.
Students understand and can contribute to the targets they are working to achieve through their ILP.
Parent carers are made aware of the range of communication channels available to them for sharing information about their child with the setting.
Parent carers are made aware of the SEND status of their child and the provision to support them. This includes any individually tailored interventions that are in place.
Students are involved in the Graduated Approach. This includes:
- the APDR process
- setting and reviewing targets
- identifying their own learning strategies
Communication with parent carers is supported directly through:
- a home and setting diary
- their book bag
- messaging
- social media
Communication is also given through the student.
Formal and informal events take place to find parent carer's opinions on SEND provision in the settings. This could include events like student and parent carer surveys or coffee mornings.
