Solar Together is a tried and tested group-buying scheme. It makes installing solar panels, battery storage and EV chargers as cost-effective and hassle-free as possible, keeping you informed at every stage.

The initiative simplifies installing solar systems by bringing together interested homeowners and small-business owners. This allows vetted installers to bid competitively for the installation work. This makes sure of high-quality installations and helps participants save money by securing lower prices.

By installing solar panels and producing renewable electricity for your home or business, you will:

  • reduce your own carbon footprint
  • play an important part in supporting our ambition to reach net zero carbon emissions by as close to 2030 as possible

How the scheme works

1. Registration

You can register for free and without obligation by visiting Solar Together.

To register, you will need to give details about your roof, such as its size and orientation.

2. Auction

A reverse auction will be held where our pre-vetted solar installers will submit bids for the work. The more people that register, the better the deal should be for each household. The installer with the most competitive package will win the auction.

3. Personal recommendation

You will get an email with your personal recommendation based on your registration details. This includes your costs and specifications of your system.

4. Make a decision

You decide whether you want to accept the recommendation. There is no obligation to continue. The Solar Together team will tell you how long you have to accept the recommendation and remind you before the scheme closes.

5. Installation

If you accept, the winning installer will contact you to survey your roof and set an installation date. You will have access to telephone and email support throughout the whole process. Information sessions will also help you to make an informed decision in a safe environment that is hassle free.

Planning permission

Installations will generally not need planning permission. However, planning permission may be required in some cases, such as in conservation areas and on listed buildings
