Bracknell Forest students celebrate GCSE results

Students across the borough have been celebrating today as they collect their GCSE results. After 2 years of dedication and hard work, these results are not only a testament to the commitment of the pupils, but also the unwavering support and guidance provided by the staff and leaders in our schools.

This year marks a return to a grade distribution more in line with that before the pandemic. For that reason, comparisons with the previous 3 years’ results should not be made. Despite this, Bracknell Forest's young people continue to achieve very positive outcomes, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to embark on the next phase of their educational journey.

Provisional results show that:

  • 76% achieved 4+ in English Language or Literature
  • 71% achieved 4+ in Mathematics
  • 65% achieved combined English and Mathematics 4+
  • the average Attainment 8 score across the borough was 46.8%

Nationally the proportion of pupils achieving a standard pass (grade 4+) was 67.8%.

Grainne Siggins, Executive Director of the People Directorate, said:

“It is such a pleasure to congratulate these young people. These positive outcomes are a testament to their ability to adapt to the challenges they have faced across their secondary education, and to their commitment and hard work.

"They, their teachers and their parents should be very proud of their achievements.”

Cllr Roy Bailey, executive member for Children Young People and Learning, added:

“Huge congratulations to all the staff and students who are celebrating GCSE results today. These wonderful results reflect the range of subjects in which our pupils have showcased their diverse talents and demonstrate the well-rounded education that will prepare them for their future academic pursuits.

"We thank all the staff and parents for their efforts in supporting these pupils and wish our young people the very best as they progress to their next steps in education, employment or training.
