Nominations are open for community champions at this year’s Lexicon Bracknell Half Marathon.
This year’s event will take place on Sunday 12 May and for its 40th anniversary. Everyone Active in partnership with Bracknell Forest Council, are asking locals to nominate a community champion to win a free space in the half marathon.
In celebration of 4 decades of running, camaraderie, and community spirit, the Bracknell Half Marathon is honouring this special occasion by offering 40 free places to community champions.
Community champions are people who:
- volunteer for local charities or community projects
- have shown extraordinary commitment to helping others
- are inspiring role models within the community
- have made significant contributions to local sports, arts, education, or another area that benefits the community
Mark Tennant, Everyone Active’s contract manager said:
“There are many inspiring role models throughout Bracknell Forest, and the community champion title offers the perfect opportunity for local residents to say thank you in a unique and memorable way, allowing them to be celebrated during a cherished community event.”
Rob Morris, general manager at The Lexicon said:
"The Lexicon has sponsored the half marathon for the past six years and is delighted to be sponsoring the event again this year, as it turns 40.
"It is a fabulous community event with many taking part, like our own team running in aid of local charities, so it is fitting this year that 40 free places will be offered to local community champions."
Cllr Iskandar Jefferies, executive member for culture, delivery and public protection, added:
“As we mark the 40th anniversary of the Lexicon Bracknell Half Marathon, I encourage everyone to take this opportunity and submit a community champion that has made a difference in our community.
“Honouring them with a free place in the half marathon is a great chance to highlight their success and we can’t wait to celebrate them on the day.”
Nominations are open until Friday 29 March and can be completed on the Everyone Active website.
