Local Transport Plan

The Local Transport Plan (LTP) is a document that sets out the transport needs, challenges, priorities, and objectives for the borough.

This LTP strategy builds on the success of the last one. It follows 2 rounds of public consultation with residents. The strategy shows our commitment to addressing climate change locally, across all levels of transport.

The plan and supporting documents show how we will:

  • develop an infrastructure network fit for a new generation of electric vehicles (EV)
  • adapt our bus network to connect with other forms of travel
  • improve our already excellent walkways and cycle routes
  • embrace future mobility to cut carbon emissions from transport

Our plan will shape future transport schemes and development. It aligns with the Local Plan which sets out housing growth for 2037.

Our vision for 2037

To develop a sustainable and resilient transport network that reduces carbon and provides choice and access for all in a safe and healthy environment, making Bracknell Forest a desirable place to live, work and grow.

How we will deliver the plan

We will deliver the plan in the following ways:

  • encourage greater use of our excellent walking and cycling network
  • explore a more efficient and smart use of our road network
  • improve EV infrastructure by providing more charge points
  • explore changes in the way public transport is provided, using technology to allow more demand responsive routes
  • work with schools to promote sustainable transport and encourage parents and pupils to use active ways to school
  • provide safer routes to school with the adoption of school streets
  • work with the private sector to make sure these values are adopted across the borough’s workforce

Our approach also reflects our wider climate and carbon ambitions. We will make sure that decarbonisation is embedded in the way we work and deliver services in the future.
