About the Bracknell Forest Local Plan

The Bracknell Forest Local Plan was adopted on 19 March 2024.

It forms part of the statutory development plan for the borough.

It replaces the Bracknell Forest Borough Local Plan (2002), the Core Strategy (2008) and some polices in the Site Allocations Local Plan (2013). It also provides the basis for the council’s Supplementary Planning Documents which set out extra guidance for some policy areas.

The Bracknell Forest Local Plan sets out the vision and strategy for our borough until 2037. It is divided into 2 parts:

  1. Part 1 contains the strategic policies and sets out where new jobs, homes and services will be located. It also contains policies that help to protect the natural and historic environment and help the borough to adapt to climate change as well as other issues.
  2. Part 2 covers development management policies, such as helping to make sure we have high quality design, transport and environmental sustainability.

The policies in the development plan provide a framework for guiding decisions on planning applications in the borough.
