
This course is suitable for those working or looking to work in the catering industry.
It provides key information to food handlers to:
- make sure that they know the correct methods and principles of food handling
- understand their legal requirements
- keep the consumer safe
On passing the exam you will get a Highfield Level 2 Award in Food Safety for Catering qualification.
Entry requirements
No previous experience is required but this course does need a minimum of Level 1 English (or equivalent).
Material required for the course
A handbook will be provided; learners are to bring a pen and paper for making notes.
Learners will need to have Photo ID
Accepted photo ID includes:
- Passport (any nationality)
- UK photo driving license
- Valid warrant card issued by HM Forces or police
- Other photographic ID, e.g. current employee ID, student ID or travel card
Teaching method
Classroom training with some verbal and some written exercises.
How is your progress checked
Tutors will monitor learners progression throughout the session.
Assessment
There is a 20 question multiple choice exam at the end of the day.
There will be a self-evaluation at the end of the session.
