Managing anxiety and depression: May 2025

In this session we will look at what causes anxiety and depression. We will look at how the brain works and learn coping strategies through guided mindfulness exercises and group discussions.

This course will look at:

  • understanding depression and anxiety
  • brain areas involved
  • mindfulness and relaxation techniques
  • practical coping strategies
  • developing a personal management plan
  • sharing personal experiences (if group members are comfortable)

Entry requirements

No prior knowledge, skills or qualifications are required.

This is a personal development course. It will enable you to build your knowledge of self-care and provide you with practical tools to improve your health and wellbeing.

  • verbal instruction
  • group discussion
  • handouts 
  • practical tasks
  • quizzes

How is your progress checked

You will be assessed by the tutor using various methods. This could take the form of discussions, quizzes and practical tasks.
