New start job search skills: May 2027

If you are preparing for interviews or starting your job search, get practical tips to help you shine.

Learners will get an overview of the job application process and what they need to consider when applying for jobs, both online and in person. 

We will discuss:

  • where to look for a job
  • how to match skills and experience with a job profile
  • how to identify next steps for success in job seeking

This is a non-accredited course. You will not get a qualification.

Entry requirements

Learners must be over the age of 19 years before 31 August prior to the start of the academic year.

Other eligibility requirements may also apply.

This course is aimed at job seekers who would benefit from support in looking for and applying for jobs.

Material required for the course

You should bring a pen, reading glasses if required and a smartphone if you have one.

Teaching method

Teaching will be through a mix of:

  • formal instruction
  • group discussion 
  • individual written work 
  • observations from the tutor

How is your progress checked

Progress is checked through a mix of:

  • observations from the tutor

Assessment

The course is assessed through:

  • observation of participation in course activities 
  • completion of the workbook on the day
  • self-evaluation at the end of the session
