Adverse Childhood Experiences Recovery Toolkit (ACES)

For parents and carers to have a better understanding about the impact of ACEs on them and their children. It is designed to support each of the participants to explore ways to develop positive coping strategies for day to day living.

Age of child: all

Length: 10 weeks

ADHD+ Parenting

For parents and carers of children and young people who have a clinical diagnosis of ADHD.

Age of child: all

Length: 10 weeks

Communication and Learning - PEEP

A play based programme for parents with children who have a speech and language delay.

The sessions focus on:

  • speech and language through play
  • interaction
  • singing and sharing books with positive outcomes at home

If you are very concerned about your child's speech and you think they may be a year behind what you expect, please complete the NHS speech and language referral form

Age of child: 24 to 36 months

Length: 8 to 10 weeks

Domestic Abuse - Freedom Programme

For women who have experienced or are experiencing domestic abuse. The aim of the course is to help them make sense of and understand what has happened to them and to look at the effects on children that have been exposed to domestic abuse - in a safe and supportive environment.

Length: 10 weeks

Domestic Abuse - Recovery Toolkit

For women who have experienced domestic abuse and violence. It is designed to support each of the participants to explore ways to develop positive coping strategies for day to day living in a safe and supportive environment.

Domestic Abuse - Recovering Together (DART)

For mothers and their children who have experienced domestic abuse. The aim is to talk to each other about the domestic abuse, learn to communicate and rebuild and strengthen their relationship in a creative and safe environment.

Age of child: 7 to 14 years

Emotional First Aid

This course focuses on the parent or carer's own emotional wellbeing. It helps them to identify their early warning signs of emotional distress and develop their own sense of positive emotional health and wellbeing.

The course offers an overview of mental health and wellbeing in relation to being a parent or carer.

Length: 6 weeks

Incredible Years

To support parents and carers to recognise and understand the importance of relationships, praise, and incentives and how best to manage challenging behaviours.

The programme encourages parents and carers to identify and recognise issues and solutions by using everyday examples.

Learning Together - PEEP

How to make the most of learning opportunities in everyday life and play.

Age of child: 0 to 5 years

Length: 9 weeks

Solihull Antenatal - Journey to Parenthood

An course for parents who are expecting a baby, giving them practical information about pregnancy, labour and birth. 

This is also available as an online course.

Age of child: antenatal

Length: 6 weeks

Solihull Postnatal - Understanding your Baby

An course for parents and carers of babies, with information on brain development and their baby’s physical and emotional development. The programme shows how important their relationship with their baby is for the baby’s development.

Solihull - Understanding your Child

In this online course, parents and carers identify personal goals and the strategies that will help meet them and reflect on their children's behaviour and their relationship with their children.

Solihull - Understanding your Teenager's Brain

In this online course, parents and carers get a better understanding of how the adolescent brain evolves and the impact of that on behaviour.

Supportive Programme for Parents of Teenagers (STOP)

This programme is designed to support a parent or carer's core relationship with their children. It covers issues of:

  • drugs
  • sex
  • education
  • communication
  • setting boundaries

Age of child: 11 to 16

Length: 10 weeks

Time Out for Parents - Early and Primary Years

These parenting workshops include:

  • strategies for managing child behaviour
  • setting boundaries
  • parenting styles
  • meeting children’s emotional needs

Age of child: 0 to 11 years

Length: 5 to 6 weeks
