The Solar Together scheme is back and open for residents and small local businesses to apply.
Solar Together is a group-buying scheme that makes installing renewable energy at home more affordable. It helps applicants reduce their carbon emissions and save on energy bills.
Facilitated by Bracknell Forest Council and iChoosr, experts in sustainable energy, last year’s Solar Together scheme brought renewable energy to 135 households. This year’s scheme hopes to reach even more people.
Solar Together offers solar panels with optional battery storage and EV charge points. For those who already have solar panels, retrofit battery storage is also available.
How the scheme works:
- register online for free and without obligation
- pre-approved UK suppliers participate in a reverse auction, offering competitive pricing
- receive a personal recommendation based on your registration details
- accept the recommendation to confirm installation specifics
- technical survey carried out and installation date set
- access telephone and email helpdesks and information sessions for support throughout the process
Damian James, Assistant Director of Contract Services for Bracknell Forest Council, said:
“We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint and encouraging residents to do the same. After the success of last year’s scheme we are keen to reach more people and show them the benefits of renewable energy at home.
“By participating in this group-buying scheme, residents can not only save on their energy bills but also contribute to a more sustainable future.”
Marie-Louise Abretti, Solar Together UK Business Manager, added:
“With energy prices fluctuating, residents are looking for opportunities to reduce their carbon emissions, save on energy bills, and increase their independence from the grid. The Solar Together group-buying scheme offers a straightforward way to make an informed decision and to access a competitive offer from a trusted, vetted provider.”
Since 2015, iChoosr has partnered with UK councils on the Solar Together scheme. They have overseen the installation of over 10,734 solar panels in Berkshire and reducing carbon emissions by 20,415 tonnes over 25 years.
