Residents, local businesses, schools and community groups can now feedback on the council’s new climate change strategy. The strategy sets out how the council plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and prepare for the impacts of a changing climate.
Feedback can be given using the online consultation portal until 26 January 2025. Hard copy questionnaires are available at local libraries, or from the main reception at Time Square.
The strategy outlines key actions to achieve net zero emissions as close to 2030 as possible. It focuses on the following areas:
- achieving net zero - reducing the council’s emissions, supporting borough-wide emissions reductions, and promoting sustainability among residents
- adapting to climate impacts - preparing the council and local community for the effects of climate change, such as extreme weather and rising temperatures
- supporting a green economy - encouraging innovation, job creation, and investment in sustainable industries
Cllr Mary Temperton, leader of Bracknell Forest Council and cabinet member for climate change, said:
“A lot has changed since our last climate change strategy. This updated one highlights the need for preparation against climate change impacts and the need to involve our community.
“Achieving these goals will take a collective effort, and we want to hear from as many people as possible. Your feedback will shape how we tackle climate challenges together and achieve a sustainable future for our borough.”
The council will also host an online event on Monday 13 January at 6pm to explain the strategy and invite feedback.
