Celebrating 50 years of Easthampstead Golf Club

Mayor with Easthampstead Golf Club members at 50th anniversary book launch

Easthampstead Golf Club, based at Downshire Golf Complex, has recently published a book titled ‘Bizarre Night Rituals’. The book captures 50 years of club memories from its beginning in 1975.

The book shares the achievements of members, the eclectic mix of competitions and social activities over the years. Taking over 2 years to put together, it features a wide range of information and photographs. These include club tours, history of the location and a roll of honour for the winners from over 2,000 competitions!

On 14 June, the club promoted the book at an event in Waterstones, Bracknell. The Mayor of the borough of Bracknell Forest, Cllr Janet Cochrane, was delighted to have attended. She said:

"The book is a wonderful snapshot of the history of the club, and of the local community. I am so pleased to have had the chance to speak with some of the club members that put this wonderful piece of local history together. I encourage everyone to get their own copy and find out more about the history of this fantastic asset to our community."

The club has 3 integrated, but separately managed sections – juniors, ladies and men. Each section offers opportunities for internal competitions, external matches, club away events and foreign tours. Over a dozen junior members have gone on to become professionals. But it isn’t just about golf, the club also enjoys an active social side which helps to encourage a friendly and welcoming community atmosphere.
