Eco Rewards visited Wooden Hill Primary on Monday 20 October to present the Eco School of the Year 2025 trophy for ‘most improved school’.

Although Wooden Hill Primary only joined in February 2025, they quickly ramped up participation. In less than 4 months they reported an impressive 4,200 green miles, and over 1.3 tonnes of CO2 saved compared to driving.

Cllr Mary Temperton, Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Climate Change, presented the trophy on behalf of Eco Rewards. She said:

“I am delighted to be able to present this award to Wooden Hill Primary. Their dedicated and enthusiastic participation in the Eco Rewards scheme is wonderful to see. It is important for us all to take action to reduce carbon emissions to help to safeguard our planet.”

Crownwood, St Michael’s, and Warfield Primary School were also commended for their achievements during the past academic year.

Additionally, Eco Rewards is excited to announce their new Eco School 2026 contest. They are looking for the most improved schools over the course of the year using 2025 as a baseline for existing schools. You can check the most recent school totals on the Eco Rewards website.

Eco Rewards is working with the council to offer the programme to as many schools and communities as possible. They are currently collaborating with over 20 schools in the borough. This free initiative, funded by our public health team, encourages students and their families to choose walking, cycling, or public transport over driving to school, work or shops.

The mission of Eco Rewards in Bracknell Forest is to minimise local car trips, encouraging both physical and mental wellbeing, while reducing the environmental impact. This is achieved through the active involvement of schools, communities, and businesses. Their goal is to raise awareness about sustainable and active travel, inspiring students, parents, and staff to re-evaluate and modify their travel habits.
