Democracy - get involved

Local Democracy Week - 9 to 15 October 2017

Local Democracy Week is a pan-European event which aims to raise awareness of the democratic process and encourage democratic participation at a local level.

We hope to raise awareness of how local authorities operate and encourage those living, working and studying in Bracknell Forest to make the most of the opportunities available for taking part in decision-making at a local level.

Previous events have included:

  • school visits to the council chamber
  • 'why vote' debates
  • local democracy games
  • meeting the Mayor
