The Community Safety Plan (CSP) for 2024 to 2027 was approved by the council’s Cabinet on Tuesday 12 November. The plan aims to make the borough a safer and more welcoming place for all.
This statutory plan will guide efforts to address key community safety priorities over the next 3 years and was shaped by:
- local crime data
- stakeholder input
- resident feedback
The CSP aims to focus on reducing crime and anti-social behaviour in locations that are impacting the community the most. It will support those affected by domestic abuse, tackle serious violence, and prevent hate crime.
Through targeted actions in these areas, the council hopes to create a safer, healthier community where everyone can feel secure. While these areas will be prioritised, all crime and disorder is being looked at, and will be prevented and tackled by the partnership.
Key priorities
Crime and anti-social behaviour hotspots
Targeting key areas with issues such as public drug use and dealing, anti-social vehicle use, and noise disturbances.
Town centre safety
Reducing crime and anti-social behaviour to keep levels low in Bracknell’s town centre.
Domestic abuse
Strengthening support and prevention efforts for those affected by domestic abuse.
Serious violence
Proactive measures to prevent and reduce high-harm incidents across the borough.
Hate crime
Resources dedicated to preventing hate crime and promoting inclusivity and respect within the community.
Cllr Helen Purnell, cabinet member for environment, community, and housing, said:
“The Community Safety Plan reflects our commitment to creating safe and supportive neighbourhoods.
“By focusing on key areas identified through resident’s feedback and local data, we are taking meaningful steps to ensure that Bracknell Forest remains a safe place for everyone.”
For transparency and accountability, progress on the CSP priorities will be reviewed quarterly and shared with the community through annual reports.
