Bracknell Forest poppies

You can now visit the Poppy Shop on Braccan Walk in The Lexicon to pick up your poppy and take in some community art.

The Royal British Legion's Poppy Shop (next to River Island) is open daily from 10am to 4pm. Visitors will be able to purchase the 2025 poppy pin, traditional paper poppies and a wide range of Royal British Legion merchandise.

Cllr Paul Bidwell, cabinet member for economy and regeneration, and Cllr Georgia Pickering, armed forces champion for Bracknell Forest, supported the launch of the poppy shop last month. They joined local Royal British Legion members and staff from The Lexicon to launch the pop-up shop.

A local group called Crafting Smiles, which helps Hong Kongers connect through crochet, were also there. They donated 1,000 crocheted poppies to the pop-up shop. Craft Coop also provided handmade poppies from recycled plastic bottles for a touching remembrance display in The Braccan Walk Pod, opposite the Poppy Shop.

Cllr Pickering said:

“This is an important time for our community to commemorate those that have given their lives in service to the nation and pay respect to all our armed forces personnel, their families and veterans. Thank you to everyone who has made the return of the Poppy Shop possible, it is a fitting tribute for this period of Remembrance and raises awareness and funding for the Royal British Legion.”

Cllr Bidwell added:

“This is another great example of The Lexicon being the heart of our borough through community and charity work. While having a thriving town centre is important for our economy, it’s also important that our town centre has a heart and soul and reflects what is important to local people and visitors, including celebrating our armed forces personnel, past and present.”

A number of giant poppies have also been installed across Bracknell Forest over the past week and will remain in place until after Armistice Day, signifying the borough’s thanks to all our armed personnel, their families, and our veterans.
