Update from the Leader - 26 November 2025

Leader of Bracknell Forest Council, Cllr Mary Temperton

I am delighted the council is providing free single bus journeys across Bracknell Forest on weekends throughout December leading up to Christmas. This will help residents save money, support local businesses, reduce road congestion, and encourage environmentally friendly travel. Further details are on our free weekend bus rides in December web page.

Over the next few weeks there are also 2 wonderful ways to help our community.

Bracknell Forest Toy Bank

You can donate new or pre-loved good quality toys to the Bracknell Christmas Toy Bank, making sure children in need receive presents.

Drop off your donations by Tuesday 3 December on:

  • weekdays at Involve Community Services
  • Saturdays at The Brew Coffee Bar, Easthampstead Works

More information can be found on the Bracknell Toy Bank Instagram page.

Bracknell Foodbank

You can also donate loo roll to The Lexicon’s charity appeal in aid of Bracknell Foodbank. A 4-roll pack can be donated to a local family through The Lexicon Giving Box, which will be in Princess Square until Sunday 4 January.

Our community spirit is undeniable in Bracknell Forest, whatever the time of year. The council aims to support residents and work together to build a sustainable, resilient and inclusive borough, and local efforts and partnerships bring this to life.

You’re invited to share your views on the draft vision, aims and objectives of the borough’s communities’ strategy. This is a 10-year plan to build stronger, connected and cohesive communities across Bracknell Forest. Have your say by filling in the short consultation on Involve’s website by Thursday 18 December.

We’re also looking ahead to long-term sustainability with the re3 partnership’s new joint waste management strategy for 2026 to 2031. We need your input to shape these future services. A public consultation is open until Sunday 14 December and you can fill this in on the Reading Borough Council website.

These actions, whether helping a neighbour today, or planning a greener future tomorrow, show the values we believe in.

The other consultation I’d ask you keep an eye out for is the upcoming council budget survey. This is due to go live on Wednesday 17 December, subject to approval. It’s really important we hear your views on our financial plans – I’ll bring you more information in my next column.

Finally, as the weather has turned colder, do check on vulnerable neighbours – it helps to make our community a supportive place for everyone.

Best wishes.
