No change to Bracknell Forest Council elections

Bracknell Forest Council is planning to hold elections for all borough council seats in May 2027. This is in line with the usual cycle of four-yearly ‘all-out’ elections in the borough. There is no planned delay or postponement of these elections.

Some local authorities are looking at whether elections in May 2026 should proceed as planned as part of the local government reorganisation process to become unitary councils. Bracknell Forest Council is already a unitary council. There are no elections planned for the borough in May 2026, so there is no need to postpone or change planned elections due to reorganisation.

The council is part of a wider discussion around creating a Thames Valley Mayoral Strategic Authority with other Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Swindon Councils. This work is at a higher, strategic level and does not impact local borough elections in Bracknell Forest.
