Good news stories
If any runner has a specific reason for running the half marathon, is supporting a charity close to their heart or has been inspired by someone else to take part, then the Organisers would like to hear from them.
In the build up to the event the Organisers would like to share your stories with the wider community to demonstrate that taking part in The Lexicon Bracknell Half marathon is about much more than running 13.1 miles.
If you are happy for your story to be shared please contact the Organisers through the online enquiry form giving brief details. If your story is selected you will be contacted in due course.
General race information
Date and time
The event will take place on Sunday 13 May 2018.
The start time is 9am prompt.
The race village will be in:
Bond Square, near Waitrose
The start and finish will be a short distance away in The Lexicon.
This year the race will start and finish in The Lexicon and the race village will be in Bond Square, near Waitrose.
The runners will leave and re-enter the town centre via London Road. On the way out the runners will join the existing course at the Running Horse Roundabout and will then run anti-clockwise taking in approximately 11 miles of the old course. On reaching the Running Horse Roundabout for the second time, the runners will return to the town centre the same way that they came out, before finishing in the heart of The Lexicon.
Due to the nature of the course, the organisers regret that wheelchair entries are not accepted for this event.
Bracknell Forest Runners have once again volunteered to provide Pacers at a variety of different paces during the event. On the day look out for the runners in fluorescent yellow t shirts with specific times on their backs. All you have to do is pick your target time and stick close to the Pacer.
Car parking for runners
Runners can park for free in the High Street Car park. They must arrive at the car park between 7:15am and 9am. On arrival at the barrier, runners will need to produce evidence that they are taking part in the race - such as their race number or payment receipt. They will then get a ticket that will allow them to exit the car park anytime up until midnight on Sunday 13 May. The ticket will only allow one exit and applies only to Sunday May 13.
Please have your evidence to hand before arriving at the barrier to reduce delays at this busy time.
Anyone arriving at the High Street car park outside the permitted entry times or choosing to park at any of the other car parks will be charged the normal rate.
Car parking for volunteers
There will be free parking for volunteers working at the event, in the Albert Road car park. Volunteers will get a car park pass in advance, through the organisation they represent, which will entitle them to park in the pay and display car park for as long as they need to on that day.
Please note failure to display the correct car park pass could result in a car parking fine being issued. Volunteers are asked to make sure they display their pass in their windscreen.
All participants completing the course will receive a commemorative medal.
There will be prizes for the first 3 finishers in the Mens Open, Ladies Open, Mens Veteran and Ladies Veteran Categories.
There will also be prizes for the first finishers in the Mens Veteran 50+, Mens Veteran 60+, Ladies Veteran 45+ and Ladies 55+ Categories.
