A new performance report has highlighted continued progress across Bracknell Forest Council’s priorities during the first quarter of 2026 to 2027. Positive results are being delivered for residents, communities and businesses.
The report, covering April to June 2026, covers a range of achievements, from supporting young people into work to improving community safety and investing in a greener future.
Key successes during the first quarter include the following.
Supporting children and young people
In this area:
- the number of care leavers aged 19 to 21 not in education, employment or training fell to its lowest level in more than 2 years
- more than 340 young people took part in youth work activities, the highest quarterly figure for over a year
- the council's Youth Employment Hub met its target of helping 140 young people into work, training, education or volunteering
- Bracknell Forest's Youth Justice Service continued to be recognised for its strong performance
Building stronger and safer communities
In this area:
- the council approved a new Domestic Abuse Strategy (PDF, 0.7 MB), including plans to launch a women's and girls' safety charter
- more than 15 partner organisations signed up to the new Stronger Together Communities Strategy, helping to strengthen community partnerships across the borough
- a successful Armed Forces Day event brought residents together and received positive feedback
Helping residents live healthy lives
In this area:
- more than 401,000 visits were made to Everyone Active leisure facilities during the quarter
- more than 95% of young children receiving early development reviews were meeting or exceeding expected development levels
Investing in homes and support services
In this area:
- the new Bridgewell supported living accommodation officially opened, providing specialist housing for residents who need additional support
Climate change action
In this area:
- the council’s Cabinet approved a new climate change delivery plan with 108 projects aimed at reducing carbon emissions
- progress includes introducing more sustainable fuel for the council's waste collection vehicles and further improvements to council buildings
Improving services
In this area:
- the council achieved a top 20 UK ranking for website accessibility, making online services easier for residents to use
- the council was praised by independent reviewers from the Local Government Association for the quality of its services and its work to support regeneration and economic growth
Managing finances responsibly
In this area:
- early action to improve the council's financial position has identified significant savings and efficiencies, helping to reduce pressure on council reserves while protecting services
