You only need to give notice for replacements if the installer is not part of a competent person scheme. You can find a list of relevant schemes under the Replacement windows, doors, roof windows or rooflights section on GOV.UK.
There is a separate paper form for a building notice window replacement application which should ideally be completed by the installer on behalf of the applicant. The form can be found on the building notice - view guidance and give notice page.
Important - If any structural work is included, such as increasing the opening width, replacing a window with patio doors, a building notice must be submitted.
